What is the difference between JSON and YAML?

JSON is a plain-text data format that stores nested objects and arrays. It is the standard payload format for web APIs, readable in any text editor, and parsed natively by every major programming language. YAML is an indentation-based data format that expresses the same structures as JSON but reads more like prose. It supports comments, which JSON does not, and is the usual choice for CI configuration and Kubernetes manifests.
